Easter Egger Pullet

The Easter Egger is a colorful and friendly chicken breed known for its ability to lay eggs in a variety of vibrant colors, including blue, green, pink, and even brown. Although not a recognized breed by the American Poultry Association, Easter Eggers are popular in backyard flocks for their unique egg colors and friendly personalities.

Key Features:

  • Appearance: Easter Eggers can have a wide range of feather colors and patterns, often combining shades of black, brown, gold, and white. They can also have various comb types and body shapes, as they are technically a mixed breed, typically descended from Ameraucans, Araucanas, or other egg-laying breeds. They often have a muffy face, with tufts of feathers around their cheeks.

  • Size: Easter Eggers are usually medium-sized birds, with hens weighing about 5-6 lbs and roosters around 6-7 lbs. They have a solid build and are typically active and hardy.

  • Egg Production: One of the standout features of Easter Eggers is their colorful egg production. They typically lay 200-280 medium to large eggs per year in shades of blue, green, or pink. The exact color varies from bird to bird, which makes collecting eggs a fun surprise.

  • Temperament: Easter Eggers are known for their friendly, curious, and social nature. They are often described as calm and easy to handle, making them excellent pets for families and beginners. They get along well with other chickens and are relatively low-maintenance.

  • Hardiness: These chickens are hardy and adaptable, able to thrive in various climates, though they do best in moderate temperatures. Their feathering can vary, but they are generally well-suited for both hot and cold weather.
