Cream Legbar Pullet

Cream Legbar Pullet

The Cream Legbar is a striking and unique chicken breed known for its beautiful plumage, friendly personality, and excellent egg-laying ability. Originally developed in the UK, the Cream Legbar is a hybrid of the original Legbar breed, crossed with other birds to improve traits like egg color and production.

Key Features:

  • Appearance: Cream Legbars have soft, creamy-colored feathers, often with subtle blue or greenish tones. Their plumage is slightly laced with darker streaks, giving them a unique and attractive appearance. They have a slim, medium-sized body with a crest on their heads, adding to their distinctive look. Their legs are yellow, and they have a single comb.

  • Size: Cream Legbars are medium-sized birds, with hens typically weighing around 4-5 lbs and roosters around 5-6 lbs. Despite their smaller size compared to some other breeds, they are hardy and active.

  • Egg Production: Cream Legbars are known for their excellent egg-laying ability, producing around 200-300 medium to large blue or green eggs per year. Their consistent egg production and colorful eggs make them a popular choice for backyard flocks.

  • Temperament: Cream Legbars are friendly, curious, and relatively calm, but they can be more active and independent than some other breeds. They are good foragers and enjoy free-ranging, though they are still social and can be easily handled with regular interaction.

  • Hardiness: This breed is hardy and does well in a variety of climates. The Cream Legbar is known for its resilience to cold weather, though they also handle warmer temperatures relatively well, especially when provided with shade and fresh water.
