Lavender Orpington
The Lavender Orpington is a beautifully rare and elegant breed known for its soft, silvery-lavender plumage and exceptionally gentle temperament. With their fluffy appearance, calm personality, and unique coloring, Lavender Orpingtons make a stunning and beloved addition to any backyard flock.
These birds are well-mannered, easy to handle, and fantastic with children—often earning them a reputation similar to Buff Orpingtons as the “sweethearts” of the chicken world. Their full, rounded body and thick feathering also give them excellent cold tolerance, making them hardy in a wide range of climates.
Lavender Orpington hens are steady layers, producing 170–200 medium to large light-brown eggs per year. While not the most prolific breed, they are valued for their beauty, docile nature, and reliability. Their peaceful disposition makes them ideal for beginners, families, and mixed flocks.
