Olive Egger

Olive Egger

The Olive Egger is a popular hybrid chicken known for producing beautiful olive-green eggs that add a unique and colorful touch to any egg basket. Created by crossing a dark brown egg layer (such as a Marans) with a blue egg layer (such as an Ameraucana or Cream Legbar), Olive Eggers offer the best of both worlds—hardiness, personality, and stunning egg color.

Olive Eggers typically lay 180–220 medium to large olive-green eggs per year, with shades ranging from light moss green to deep, rich olive. Because they are hybrids, appearance can vary, giving each bird its own look and charm. Many have adorable muffs and beards, though some hatch clean-faced.

These birds are friendly, curious, and easy to care for, making them a wonderful choice for families and mixed backyard flocks. They are hardy in many climates and adapt well to both free-range and coop environments.
