Blue Slate Heritage Turkey

Blue Slate Heritage Turkey

The Blue Slate turkey is a rare heritage turkey breed that was admitted into the American Standard of Perfection in 1874. While originally believed to be a cross between a black and white turkey, it is now believed that this type arose as a legitimate mutation. The Blue Slate turkey makes an excellent forager, backyard/farm turkey, and of course, a great Thanksgiving bird for your table.

Blue Slate turkeys can be varying shades of blue and may have flecks of black throughout. Hens are lighter in color than toms.

Average market weight: Toms 23 lbs, Hens 14 lbs. Old Toms 33 lb Old Hens 18 lbs.

*Turkeys are sold as straight run only and will not be sexed.
